JOB DESCRIPTION
Optimum Agriculture (OA) is an Investment and Asset Management organization that has been investing in agricultural assets across US, Europe and Latin America for over 10 years and with a strong track record of realized returns to investors. OA is seeking an experienced real assets investment professional to join as Investment Director and support the Partners of the firm in the expansion of OA’s global investment portfolio . OA’s Investment Director will directly report to the firm CEO.
OA’s Investment Team is focused on achieving superior results for its investors through the acquisition of high-potential fresh produce and agricultural assets including: farmland, plant base companies, vertically integrated assets and indoor farms, in order to unlock their untapped value through value-add fixed investments and a top-tier asset management team (including agriculture operations and commercialisation capabilities). OA’s Investment Team also focuses on the disposal of existing assets under management at yield maximization.
OA is headquartered in Miami and has offices in Madrid, Lisbon, London and Buenos Aires.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidates must possess strong experience as an investment manager in real assets (strong preference for direct experience in agricultural investments), with solid quantitative and analytical skills, as well as the ability to think broadly about a range of strategic opportunities confronting the firm. Knowledge of capital structure analysis, finance, and business strategy is essential.
Responsibilities for the Investment Director include management and execution of acquisitions and disposals, origination of investment opportunities, and the fostering of investor relationships. Candidates must have a proven track record on building investment teams, including the successful professional development of investments associates and analysts.
The Investment Director will be responsible for the structuring, execution and closing of OA’s acquisition and disposal transactions, and will contribute to the origination of acquisitions, including:
- Origination:
- Seek out and analyse investment opportunities
- Structuring:
- Define optimal funding and acquisition structures for M&A transactions
- Work on the disposal of assets under management
- Execution:
- Equity and debt raise for the acquisition of assets
- Lead and coordinate communication with asset team, investors and direct management of the Investment Team
- Responsible for the growth and supervision of the Investment Team, including hiring processes
- Work in partnership with lawyers and other third parties involved in the process
- Governance:
- Manage the lead-up and presentation to OA’s Investment Committee and any relevant follow-up actions
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of experience in relevant experience in finance (investment banking, private equity)
- At least 3 years’ experience as an Investment professional in real assets
- Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal)
- Ability and willingness to lead junior deal team members, interact directly with Investment Team Management, investors and develop a network of investor contacts
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong quantitative skills
- Mastery of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation and must be able to work independently, across a variety of responsibilities and at a fast pace
- Fluent in English with strong preference for additional fluency or proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
