Desoto, FL Ranch

Optimum Agriculture operations in Florida started in 2012 when the company acquired from Florida Power & Light the Desoto Ranch, located in Arcadia, Florida. The business plan was capturing the value of the land converted from pasture into a farming operation. Desoto Ranch thrived in producing vegetables such as bok choy, squash, and watermelon that were shipped using the newly built packing house. In 2019 Optimum succeeded in selling the operation, the land and improvements for a marginal profit to Florida Power & Light.

Lake Placid, FL Ranch

In 2015 Optimum Agriculture presented an opportunity to a European Family Office with the prospect to purchase a ranch in Central Florida. The ranch included 624 acres of producing citrus groves and 3,272 acres of cleared pastureland. The purchase materialized in 2015 at which time Optimum Agriculture became the manager for the European Family Office. Optimum Agriculture gradually converted the pasture land into farming, developing the watermelon operation. The NRCS awarded over $250,000 for new irrigation and ditches. In September 2023, Optimum Agriculture exited the management agreement with European Family Office leaving the operation with an additional solar contract, upgrading the land use, and profiting from a green energy land lease.

Osceola, FL Ranch

In May 2018, El Máximo Ranch was purchased for $136.5 million in a joint venture between Optimum Agriculture and an institutional investor from the middle east which manages one of the most important investment portfolios in the middle eastern region. Optimum Agriculture management maintained a 5,000 cattle operation, developed a successful watermelon, packing house and expanded the agricultural land through pasture conversion closely following the FDACS Best Management Practices recommendation. Optimum Agriculture negotiated the multimillion South Florida Water Management District water conservation project that will be fully operational in 2024. On November 2023, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) paid $212 million for the 40,000-acre ranch which has the potential to house Florida’s largest solar farm.

Vidalia, GA

In December 2019, Optimum Agriculture, and an institutional investor/wealth sovereign fund, purchased an onion grower operation In the State of Georgia along with almost 5,600 acres of land and packing/processing facilities. Ramping up the production of onions, adding a watermelon program, and recovering eroded soil, the Vidalia onion operation enhanced its productivity and revenue within three years, enabling a timely and profitable sale in 2023.

Optimum Agriculture has been continuously enrolled in the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Servies Best Management Practices, minimizing the impact of agriculture in the conservation and management of water, and coordinating with the NRCS (USDA) in developing a more sustainable irrigation system for the entire operation.
